Curlee Discaya back in Senate detention after surgery

MANILA, Philippines — Government contractor Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya was returned to the Senate detention facility on Thursday after undergoing surgery.
In a message to reporters, Senate Secretary Mark Mendoza said Discaya arrived at the Senate to continue his recovery.
“Nakabalik na kaninang umaga si Mr. Discaya sa Senate, he is OK and was cleared by his doctors to continue his recovery sa Senate,” Mendoza stated.
(Mr. Discaya returned to the Senate earlier this morning. He is okay and was cleared by his doctors to continue his recovery at the Senate.)
Discaya was brought to the hospital on April 30 for surgery on his right shoulder.

Accompanied by his lawyer and Senate security personnel, Discaya underwent the medical procedure on May 1 and was confined at the hospital for monitoring.
The contractor has been in Senate detention since September 2025 after he was held in contempt during the Senate blue ribbon committee inquiry into the flood control scandal. /gsg
