‘Dindo’ will hit N. Luzon, 10 areas under Signal No. 2

MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm “Dindo” (International name “Doksuri”) will not make a landfall but will directly hit Babuyan Islands and Batanes Islands at the northern tip of Luzon, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

Dindo was spotted at 150 kilometers east northeast of Aparri, Cagayan and continues to move 19 kilometers per hour west northwest, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its 11 a.m. report Thursday.

Storm Signal No. 2 has been raised in the provinces of Cagayan, Calayan Group of Islands, Babuyan Group of Islands, Isabela, Batanes Group of Islands, Apayao, Kalinga, Ilocos Norte, Abra, and Mountain Province, Pagasa said.

Storm Signal No. 1 has been raised in La Union, Ilocos Sur, Aurora, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Benguet, Pangasinan, and Nueva Ecija.

Rains and rough seas are expected throughout Luzon and some part of the Visayas due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon.

“Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the Seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon and Western Visayas due to the combined effect of the Tropical Storm and the Southwest Monsoon.” Pagasa said.

Maximum winds of Dindo has remained unchanged at 75 kilometers per hour and amount of rainfall is still expected to be heavy to intense at 15 – 25 millimeters per hour.

Dindo is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Friday, Pagasa said in its briefing.
