Doc Willie Ong takes oath as Aksyon Demokratiko member

MANILA, Philippines — Dr. Willie Ong, the vice presidential aspirant and runningmate of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is now a member of the Aksyon Demokratiko party.

Moreno, who is the party’s president, led the oath-taking ceremony at the Manila City Hall on Saturday.

“Nakita ko ang ginagawa ni Mayor Isko Moreno, nag-usap kami, na-inspire ako sa ginagawa niya, sa pagtulong dito sa Maynila at mga plano niya hindi lang sa Manila kundi sa buong bayan, kaya sumama ako sa partido niya,” Ong said in a video address.

Also present in the ceremony were  Ong’s wife, Dr. Liza Ong, and Aksyon Demokratiko chairman Ernest Ramel.

Ong resigned as a member of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party in a letter dated  September 22, 2021.

Moreno and Ong formally announced their presidential and vice-presidential bids on Wednesday.

Ong ran for the Senate in the 2019 polls under the Lakas-CMD party and placed 18th overall.
