Senate  suspends work on July 23

 

MANILA, Philippines — Work in the Senate will remain suspended on Wednesday, July 23 due to heavy rains triggered by the southwest monsoon or “habagat”.

In an advisory on Tuesday evening, Senate Secretary Atty. Renato Bantug Jr.relayed Senate President Francis Escudero’s instruction.

“In view of the forecast that heavy rainfall shall continue to beexperienced in Metro Manila, Senate President Escudero has ordered thatwork at the Senate shall remain suspended tomorrow,” the advisory reads.

Esudero partially suspended work in the Senate on July 22 also due to the inclement weather brought by ‘habagat”.

At present, the state weather bureau is monitoring Tropical DepressionDante, a low pressure area inside the Philippine area of responsibility east-southeast of Batanes and another LPA  outside the country’s boundary 2,705 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.

Along with these weather disturbances, the southwest monsoon is expected to continue dumping heavy rains in Zambales, Bataan, MetroManila, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Pangasinan, Benguet, Tarlac,Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra,Nueva Ecija, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Marinduque, Romblon,Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Antique, Iloilo,Guimaras, and Negros Occidental. /gsg
