MANILA, Philippines — Classes in all public and private schools, from pre-school to senior high school, in Cavite province were suspended on Monday due to inclement weather, according to Governor Athena Tolentino.
She said the suspension was prompted by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) forecast of moderate to heavy rains accompanied by strong winds in the province.
“As a precaution, all classes from elementary to senior high school in the entire province of Cavite are suspended tomorrow, Monday, June 23, 2025,” Tolentino wrote in a Facebook post.
Classes in colleges and universities will be subject to the discretion of each institution’s administration, Tolentino added.
In its morning forecast, Pagasa reported that cloud clusters brought by the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, will prevail over many parts of the country.

The state weather bureau reported that cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms were observed in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan in Luzon, as well as in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City), and the Davao Region in Mindanao.
Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms—also due to the habagat—are expected over the rest of the country on Monday./mcm
