MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. vowed on Labor Day to uphold the welfare of every Filipino worker.
In his message for the celebration of International Labor Day on Thursday, Marcos also recognized the contribution of workers in the country.
“This Labor Day, we recognize the hardships and sacrifices of our workers and their important role in shaping our society,” he said in Filipino.
He assured the public that “the government is not merely an observer of progress but an active partner of the people in building a Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines) where society is fair and just.”
The President added that, “Our commitment to not abandon you is sincere; rather, we will further uphold your cause, not merely out of duty, but in gratitude and recognition of your true worth and sacrifice. A meaningful and peaceful celebration to all.”
