Taxi driver gunned down in Lapu-Lapu

A taxi driver was found dead inside his cab in barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City, at dawn yesterday.

Romulo Magdasal, 44, driver of Holiday Taxi, was shot in the head.

Police said Magdasal, who lived in barangay Banilad, Cebu City, was found slumped on the driver’s seat of the cab parked in a vacant lot 50 meters from the barangay road.

A bullet hole was also found in the left window and in the right side mirror of the taxi.

SPO3 Jesus Jimenea of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office said homicide investigators are not discounting the possibility that robbery was the motive in the killing although P1,755 cash was found in the pocket of the victim’s polo shirt.

The driver’s wallet containing a $1 bill was also found in his possession.

Personal grudges could also be the motive in the attack, said police.

The victim’s 18-year-old son Jay-r told police that his father had no known enemy in their place.
