FU to celebrate Founder’s Day

FOUNDATION University in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental will be celebrating its 62nd Founder’s Day on Monday, July 4.

The celebration will start with a fun walk around Dumaguete City, followed by a holy Mass at the FU Main Campus and a community breakfast.

The morning will be devoted to games to be participated by administrators, faculty, staff and students.

On Wednesday, July 6, the University will open its academic convocation at the Sofia Soller Sinco Hall at 2 p.m. with Simon Sandoval, an international runner and climber and a computer programming expert, as speaker.

The Dal-uy activity at the Rizal Boulevard will follow in the evening, where the FU community will release at least 4,000 water lanterns into the sea with prayers and wishes for a fruitful year.

The week will also involve students in sports and cultural activities in a festival by the student government.

On July 17, there will be the 10.5-km and 5-km Leandro G. Sinco Fitness and Wellness Walk.

Giles Roxas, university assistant director for sports, said the wellness walk will start and finish at the Robinson’s Place Dumaguete at 6 a.m.

Foundation University was established on July 4, 1949 by Dr. Vicente G. Sinco, former Philippine commissioner for Foreign Affairs.

This year’s theme is “FU @ 62: It’s all about you!”
