Rainfall, thunderstorm warning in Metro Manila, 4 other parts of Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong winds may be expected in Metro Manila and four other parts of Luzon on Friday morning, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In a 6:40 a.m. advisory, Pagasa said these conditions are likely within the next two hours in Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan.

The state weather bureau added that similar conditions are already affecting the following areas, and may persist for the next two hours:

  • Quezon (Panukulan, Polillo, Burdeos, Patnanungan, Jomalig)
  • Oriental Mindoro (Puerto Galera, San Teodoro, Bongabong)
  • Romblon (Concepcion, Santa Fe)
  • Sorsogon (Prieto Diaz, City of Sorsogon)
  • Albay (Rapu Rapu)
  • Northern Samar (Rosario, San Jose, Biri, Lavezares)

“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” Pagasa warned.

The state weather bureau earlier reported that areas in Northern Luzon and Palawan will see overcast skies with rains on Friday due to the shear line, easterlies, and the northern monsoon or “amihan.”

Meanwhile, local thunderstorms are forecast to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms to Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
