LUCENA CITY — Two motorcycle riders yielded illegal firearms at a checkpoint in Mabini town in Batangas province early Wednesday.

The Region 4A police reported that motorcyclist “Romualdo” and his back-rider “Deo” were flagged down by local cops at a routine checkpoint along the national road in Barangay San Juan around 2:30 a.m.

The riders disregarded the cops, who ordered them to stop and sped off, prompting the police to give chase until they were arrested.

During the routine frisking, the police found each of the two riders carrying caliber .45 pistols loaded with bullets.

Both failed to present government documents for the firearms.

Authorities are conducting further investigation on the background of the arrested armed men.

The suspects were detained while charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition were being prepared.

The police also impounded the suspect’s motorcycle without a plate number.
