LUCENA CITY — Police arrested two suspected gun runners on Monday in a buy-bust operation in Calatagan town, Batangas.

The Batangas police said on Tuesday, Sept. 17, that “Gilbert” and “Randy” were arrested around 7 p.m. after they sold a caliber .45 pistol loaded with five bullets for P20,000 to an undercover cop in a transaction in Barangay Balibago.

The police said the firearm lacks government-issued documents or licenses and permits for the holder.

The police are investigating further to identify the source of the gun.

The authorities would subject the confiscated firearm to ballistic and cross-matching examinations to determine if it was used in past crime incidents.

The suspects were detained and will face charges for of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
