LUCENA CITY—The police arrested Sunday four motorists found carrying illegal firearms in Laurel town in Batangas province.

The Laurel police reported Monday that village guards flagged down a Mitsubishi Pajero after its passengers violated a solid waste ordinance in Barangay Berinayan around 9 p.m.

The police said the vehicle with four passengers—Christopher Carlos, Leonardo Balboa, Roberto de Guzman, and Joshua Mosqueda, all residents of Berinayan—were found carrying a bag with four kinds of firearms and ammunition.

The authorities seized the guns that included a caliber .45 pistol, a caliber .38 revolver, a caliber .9mm, all without serial numbers; a Micro UZI 9mm Para with serial number; assorted magazines and bullets for the firearms.

The police were conducting further investigation and jailed the suspects while awaiting charges.
