Camarines Sur on high alert for severe flooding, landslides
LIGAO CITY – The provincial government of Camarines Sur is on high alert as the heavy rains may cause severe flooding and landslides across the province.
In a memorandum issued on Sunday, Governor Vincenzo Renato Luigi Villafuerte ordered all Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils to initiate pre-emptive evacuations immediately to prevent potential incidents resulting from widespread flooding and landslides.
In October, Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) caused flooding in Camarines Sur, affecting thousands of residents.
Meanwhile, in Albay province, flash floods and landslides were reported in Legazpi City and Manito town.
Motorists were temporarily stranded on highways due to strong water currents.
Albay Governor Glenda Ong-Bongao announced the suspension of classes at all levels in both public and private schools for Monday, Dec. 2.
