Ave Maria hoopfest on

CEBU’S top junior squads will get to hone their skills some more as they compete in the Ave Maria Cup basketball tournament which kicks off today at the Cebu Coliseum.

Competing here are last year’s Cesafi runners-up, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles along with 2010 champions, the Cebu Eastern College Dragons. Also coming over to test their mettle is the Assumption College of Davao squad from Davao City. Completing the cast is the Philias team, a squad composed of selected players from the University of San Carlos.

Today’s first game slated at 8 a.m. will pit Philias vs. Assumption College while the next match will pit the Dragons against the Magis Eagles at 9:30 a.m. The afternoon games start at 1 p.m. and pit the Philians vs. CEC followed by the SHS-AdC vs. Assumption College match. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
