LAOAG CITY — The Philippine Coast Guard in Ilocos Norte suspended all sea travel in the province on Tuesday due to rough seas.

Lieutenant Joseph Christian Sagun, commander of the Coast Guard Station in Ilocos Norte, said the boat trips suspension was a safety precaution as they continue to be on full alert due to Typhoon Marce.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said a gale warning remains in effect for the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon.

“Boats already at sea during this period should stay offshore in deep waters until further advised,” Sagun said.

The PCG has been in close coordination with local government units and the provincial disaster coordinating council as it continues to monitor the weather disturbance.

Meanwhile, students in primary level in the province were sent home on Tuesday afternoon as the entire province is now under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal no. 1. (PNA)
