Marcos turns over P100M to Ilocos Norte for Typhoon Julian aid

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. turned over P100 million in cash assistance from the Office of the President (OP) to the local government of Ilocos Norte to aid those affected by Typhoon Julian.

Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc received the check after a situation briefing with Marcos and other government officials on Friday.

In his report to the President, Manotoc said 127,283 individuals, or 34,859 families, have been affected by the torrential rains and flooding caused by Julian.

Three people also reportedly lost their lives due to the calamity, while 2,276 individuals sought temporary shelter in evacuation areas.

Additionally, rains caused by Julian flooded 31,099 houses and left 296 partially damaged.

Manotoc noted that eight houses were completely destroyed by the typhoon.

Furthermore, Manotoc said they are looking at an estimated P638,044,625 worth of infrastructure damage in the province.

He added that P350,883,076 worth of damage in the agriculture sector was also reported.
