MANILA, Philippines — The province of Cavite was placed under a state of calamity due to Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami).

Cavite’s state of calamity declaration enables the release of the province’s calamity funds while allowing the imposition of price controls.

Parts of Cavite remain under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 due to Kristine, while  the rest is under TCWS No. 1.

Kristine is moving farther away from Philippine landmass as it turned northwest early Friday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
