MANILA, Philippines – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has filed charges against four individuals arrested for falsifying public documents, including a clearance from the agency bearing the signature of NBI Director Jaime Santiago himself.

Cases for falsification of public and private documents were filed against Christian Abellera, Edgardo Carpio, Jenny Bade Trajano, and a minor.

They were presented before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office in an inquest proceeding.

The NBI’s Special Task Force arrested the four in an entrapment operation conducted in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Santiago said that aside from NBI clearance, the arrested individuals also offer fake land titles, passports, driver’s licenses, and even fake electric bills.

The counterfeit documents have a price ranging from P700 to P2,500.

Computers, office equipment and spurious documents were recovered from the arrested suspects.
