Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo has been the talk of the town following the Senate probe into her alleged involvement in the illegal activities of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (Pogos) in Bamban and her questionable nationality.
Despite running as an independent candidate in the 2022 polls, Guo won the mayoral election, with 16,503 votes against her rival Joey Salting.
Hospital ship now among Chinese vessels in WPS – PCG
A hospital ship and a rescue vessel are among the latest Chinese vessels seen at Escoda (Sabina) Shoal in the West Philippine Sea as tensions re-escalate between Manila and Beijing after a China Coast Guard (CCG) ship rammed two Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessels early this week.
A CCG ship, with bow number of 4303, and at least 24 Chinese maritime militia vessels were also seen at Escoda, the PCG said on Thursday.
Harry Roque cited for contempt after lying about absence in House probe
Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque was cited for contempt for lying before the House of Representatives quad-committee regarding the reason for his absence at the first hearing.
During the quad-committee hearing on Thursday, Kabayan party-list Rep. Ron Salo showed a certification from Manila Regional Trial Court Clerk of Court Atty. Jennifer dela Cruz-Buendia which stated that Roque, a lawyer, did not have a court hearing last Aug. 16.
