MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has named Michelle Mae Gonzales as the commission at large of the National Youth Commission (NYC).
The President appointed Gonzales to a three-year term as commissioner at large on Aug. 12. She will replace former NYC Commissioner at large Laurence Anthony Diestro.
Malacañang released photos of Gonzales’ oath-taking before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Friday afternoon.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Gonzales earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management from De La Salle University. She finished high school at the Assumption College San Lorenzo in Makati City.
Led by Ronald Gian Carlo Cardema, the NYC is the policymaking and coordination body of the government’s youth-related institutions, programs, projects and activities.
It was created in 1995 through Republic Act No. 8044, or the Youth in Nation Building Act. It is presently an attached agency of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
The NYC is responsible for policy formulation and review of youth promotion and development programs, establishment of consultative mechanisms for dialogues with the youth, linkages with government and nongovernmental organizations, training for the Sangguniang Kabataan National Federation and support for youth and youth-serving organizations.
