Pagasa: Signal no. 1 may be raised in Extreme Northern Luzon on Sona day

MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau is not ruling out the possibility of raising storm signal no. 1 over some areas in Extreme Northern Luzon within the day or on Monday (July 22) when President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will deliver his third State of the Nation Address (Sona).
This possibility is due to the effects of severe tropical storm Carina (international name: Gaemi).

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical storm Carina (international name: Gaemi) slightly intensified while moving east of Casiguran, Aurora, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Based on its latest cyclone update, Pagasa said Carina was last spotted 490 kilometers east of Casiguran in Aurora, carrying maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 90 kph.

MANILA, Philippines — Two tropical cyclones developed in and near the Philippines at the start of the weekend and are expected to enhance the southwest monsoon, locally called “habagat,” across the country.
While Tropical Depression (TD) “Butchoy” (international name: 04W) left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) around 8 a.m. Saturday, it is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm in the South China Sea on its way to China.

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Carina (international name: Gaemi) has intensified into a tropical storm as of 5:00 p.m on Saturday, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in its latest bulletin, said that Carina is expected to further intensify into a severe tropical storm by Monday and a typhoon by Tuesday.
