Man nabbed for killing in-law, stabbing wife

POLICE arrested a construction worker accused of stabbing dead his father-in-law and injuring his wife and the woman’s 2-year-old nephew in barangay Mangacob, Ginatilan town, southern Cebu.

Rolando Plarisan, 33, was sleeping in his sister’s house when he was arrested by police on Tuesday.

Rolando was also accused of torching the house of his wife’s family after the the attacks.

Police said they were tipped off about Rolando’s whereabouts after he stabbed dead his father-in-law last Monday in barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete town, southwestern Cebu.

Rolando was detained at the Dalaguete police precinct while waiting for the filing of charges against him.

SPO2 Cleto Pia, deputy chief of the Dalaguete police, said Rolando was upset because he felt that his wife and his in-laws were ganging up on him.

Before that, Rolando fought with his wife and the woman’s parents, said police.

Rolando was irked when his 28-year-old wife refused to reconcile with him.

Police said Maricel and her parents arrived home at 6:30 p.m. last Monday and were about to eat dinner when a drunk Rolando entered the house and stabbed her with a knife.

Maricel’s 48-year-old father Lucas Binarao tried to pacify Rolando and got stabbed in his left armpit.

Police said Roland also stabbed Maricel’s 2-year-old nephew in the left shoulder. He left the house then returned to burn down the one-story house.

The couple was separated for about a year over complaints of domestic violence.

The couple got married and lived in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental, for seven years and had five children.

Police said the couple signed an agreement at the barangay hall in Guihulngan where Rolando promised that he would no longer maul Maricel lest charges will be filed against him.
