 Man shot dead in Tondo

MANILA, Philippines — An off-duty police officer, who said he acted in self-defense, shot and killed an armed man in Manila last Saturday, the local police said Sunday night. The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the police officer as Corporal Jonenick Gueta, 33,  and the fatality as Jonathan Marcia, also 33.

Police said Marcia, armed with a gun, was chasing a certain “Jody” in Barangay 128, Zone 10 in Tondo when he came across Gueta, who introduced himself as a police officer.

Marcia, however, did not yield and reportedly aimed his gun at Guetafa, who was forced to open fire.
