MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” is forecast to continue bringing overcast skies and rain over the western sections of the country on Saturday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Ang kanlurang bahagi ng Luzon, kasama ang Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, ilang areas ng Central Luzon o Tarlac, Pampanga at Bulacan ay makakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan lalo na sa hapon at gabi na may mga kalat kalat na pag ulan,” said Pagasa weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jordan.

(The western part of Luzon, including Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, some areas of Central Luzon or Tarlac, Pampanga and Bulacan will experience cloudy skies especially in the afternoon and evening with scattered rain showers.)

“Sa bahagi ng Mimaropa at Calabarzon may mga kalat kalat na pagulan na inaasahan sa hapon at sa gabi,” she added.

(In parts of Mimaropa and Calabarzon scattered rain showers are expected in the afternoon and evening.)

Likewise, the habagat is expected to bring rain and overcast skies over Western Visayas, as well as parts of Mindanao, namely, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi Tawi and Zamboanga Peninsula.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country or its eastern portions will experience generally fair weather with chances of isolated thunderstorms.

No low pressure areas or tropical cyclones in the meantime are being monitored by Pagasa within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility.

Pagasa said the temperature range in key cities or areas across the country for Saturday will be:

  • Metro Manila: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 17 to 22 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 22 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan De Oro City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 25 to 34 degrees Celsius

Despite the effects of habagat, no gale warning is raised with only slight to moderate sea conditions expected throughout the country’s coasts and in-land seas.
