Suspects in killing of Capiz vice mayor charged

MANILA, Philippines—Murder charges were filed Wednesday before the Department of Justice against the suspects in the killing of Mambusao, Capiz vice-mayor Abel Martinez last May 4.

Included in the complaint filed by the Capiz Provincial Police Office were Geger Francisco of Barangay Maliao, Tapaz and Sunday Danid of Barangay Daan Sur, Tapaz.

Six “John Does” and a “Peter Doe” (mastermind) were included as respondents.

Attached to the complaint were seven sworn statements, PNP medico-legal report, police investigation reports, and autopsy report.

Martinez, 79, who was also a physician, was killed by a lone gunman in front of his house on Rizal Street, Mambusao Poblacion proper.

He was brought to the Mambusao District Hospital after the shooting where he was declared dead on arrival.
