Ex-inmate shot dead near his home in Danao City

A Former  inmate was shot dead by unidentified men while standing on the roadside in barangay Poblacion, Danao City, northern Cebu, last Sunday night.

Rechie Diquiña, 39, was shot in the neck, which killed him on the spot.

Police said they are looking into Diquiña’s previous involvement in illegal drugs  and a personal grudge as motives of the killing.

Police investigation revealed that Diquiña, who was arrested in 2004 for drug possession, was discovered slumped dead about 10 meters away from his house at 11:30 p.m.

Paramedics of the Danao City Rescue Team, who arrived at the scene, declared him dead.

No witnesses came forward to shed light on the crime.

A 30 year-old-man was shot and injured by his neighbor in Campo 6, Talisay City, south Cebu,  last Sunday evening.

Jerson Lopera was rushed to a hospital.

Police identified the suspect as  Pedro Labajo, 40.

Police said the victim was sitting outside his house when Labajo arrived and confronted him.

Police said the suspect, who fled after the incident,  then fired at the victim while they argued.

death threats

The police chief in Argao town, south Cebu,  said he received death threats that included his family through text in his cellular phone last Saturday.

Insp.  Alejandro P. Batobalonos said he was only doing his job in arresting persons involved in illegal drug trade and that he wasn’t afraid of the threats.

Batobalonos said he suspected the texter had a personal grudge against him.

Batobalonos said he received the threatening message around 8 p.m.
