Vincent John Tuibeo, 24, from Bacoor City, Cavite, memorialized in a tattoo the handwritten letter his late mother sent to him before she succumbed to cancer in 2010.

On Facebook, Tuibeo’s tattoo artist, Alexis Serdeña of the Serdeña Tattoo Studio, posted the touching tattoo while thanking Tuibeo for trusting him to do the job and become part of his client’s tattoo story.

“It’s my first time doing a tattoo like this. After I finished the client’s tattoo, I felt his mother’s touching message,” Serdeña told the Inquirer.

In loving memories

In an interview with the Inquirer, Tuibeo shared that his mother, Joyann, wrote the letter in the hospital to express her appreciation and love for her children. She passed away weeks later at the age of 37 in 2010.

At the time, Tuibeo explained that he and his siblings could not regularly visit their mother since they were still minors and the hospital was far from their residence.

Exchanging letters was their primary mode of communication since the chat technology was not yet a trend. Tuibeo added that it was their family custom to write letters, especially on special occasions.

If he were to send a message again to his mother, Tuibeo said he would tell her how much they miss her and how grateful he is to be her son.

“Ma! We need you, and we miss you so much! Life has been so tough over the years without you. I just want to say that I will always pray for you! I am super proud that you are my mother, and what I am today is because of you. I love you so much, Ma,” Tuibeo expressed.
