MANILA, Philippines — The alleged mastermind in the alleged abduction and killing of pharmaceutical executive Eduardo Tolosa Jr. has been arrested, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Brigadier General Redrico Maranan said Friday.

Maranan confirmed that the Novaliches police arrested Carlo Cadampog, 35, at a mall on April 1. He said Cadampog was No. 1 on the list of Novaliches Police Station’s most wanted.

The QCPD chief said the suspect was collared as authorities served the warrant of arrest issued against him by Presiding Judge Nevic Cordillo Adolfo of Tanauan City Regional Trial Court Branch 83.

QCPD public information officer Police Major Jennifer Gannaban told INQUIRER.net via Viber message that Cadampog is now detained in Tanauan City, Batangas.

In February, the Department of Justice indicted Cadampog and nine others over Tolosa’s death.

The nine other suspects are Cesar Cadampog, Adrian Joseph Mendez, Richmel Riel Ignilan, Jomel Vizcarra, Aldrin Antonio/Norman Antonio, John Benedict Dumalanta, Victor Ferrer, David Gundran Jr., and Melvin Andes.

Tolosa was allegedly abducted and eventually killed on July 19, 2022.

The suspects reportedly demanded a ransom, which included money and expensive watches, for Tolosa’s release. Later, however, Tolosa was found dead in a pit.
