A 29-year-old Chinese man being sought by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) for credit card fraud was denied entry into the country last week. Bureau of Immigration (BI)-Interpol chief Jaime Bustamante said on Wednesday that an immigration officer at Ninoy Aquino International Airport spotted the suspect’s name on the bureau’s blacklist based on a blue notice issued by Interpol in 2022. “It was learned that a criminal case was filed against the suspect in April 2019 by the municipal public security bureau in Baoding City, Hebei province, China, for allegedly facilitating the sale of his relatives’ credit cards to criminal fraud syndicates,” the BI said. The suspect then left China with the money he earned from the transaction, prompting the Baoding public security bureau to issue a criminal detention warrant against him, it added. —JANE BAUTISTA
