MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that the number coding scheme in Metro Manila will be suspended on March 28 and March 29.

“We have number coding suspension on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday,” said MMDA chief Romando Artes during a press conference in Camp Crame.

Artes only specified the said days, which meant that the number coding scheme would resume on Black Saturday, March 30.

Number coding takes place from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Holy Week this year will begin on March 25 (Holy Monday) and end on March 31 (Easter Sunday).

Holy Week is the most solemn period in the Catholic Church’s liturgical calendar when Christians commemorate the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ over 2,000 years ago.
