La Union town logs ‘dangerous’ 47°C heat index

MANILA, Philippines — The heat index in. Bacnotan, La Union on Tuesday afternoon soared to a “dangerous” 47 degrees Celsius, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa)

This falls under the “danger” category of heat indexes, which ranges from 42 to 51 degrees Celsius.

The municipality also logged a heat index of 42 degrees Celsius on Monday.

Under this category, heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely.

Continued exposure to such temperatures could also result in heatstroke.
