MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) has already filed a qualified human trafficking case against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) founder and leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
Assistant Secretary Jose Dominic Clavano IV confirmed Tuesday that the Qualified Human Trafficking case was filed Monday before a Pasig City court.
Clavano, the DOJ Spokesperson said the case for violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law, specifically the provision on sexual abuse of minors and maltreatment, was filed before the Davao Court last week.
Aside from Quiboloy, Jackiely W. Roy, Cresente Canada, Paulene Canada, Ingrid C. Canada, and Sylvia Camanes were also named in the charge sheet on both cases.
For the case in Davao, prosecutors recommend a bail of P180,000 for the sexual assault and P80,000 for maltreatment.
The cases were filed in court after the DOJ granted the petition for review seeking a reversal of the dismissal of cases against Quiboloy.
The complainant was a former member of the Davao-based KJC who claimed that she was sexually abused in 2014 when she was 17 years old.
The victim filed a petition for review before the Office of the Justice Secretary, seeking a reversal of the decision of the Davao City prosecutor’s office.
Quiboloy has denied allegations of rape and other illegal activities.
The DOJ will eventually seek a transfer of the Davao case to Manila to avoid possible threats and intimidation in Davao.
