Isabela bus-motorcycle collision kills 1, hurts 18

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — A motorcycle driver died Thursday after his motorcycle crashed into a passenger bus that fell into a ravine after the collision in this city.

Police identified the fatality as Roland Basog, a resident of this city’s Santa Catalina village.

Basog suffered serious injuries after being hit by a Victory Liner bus driven by Looney Andoy of Tuguegarao City.

Investigators said 18 passengers on the bus were injured after the vehicle fell into the 30-meter-deep ravine around 10 p.m.

Only two of the injured passengers had to be hospitalized, while the others were immediately sent home.

The bus allegedly overtook another vehicle and failed to notice the approaching motorcycle.

Police said the bus driver would be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple physical injuries, and damage to property. INQ
