MANILA, Philippines — Some roads in Metro Manila may experience a traffic slowdown between February 2 and 5 due to the transportation of a tunnel boring machine (TBM) for the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP), the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said on Tuesday.
According to the DOTr, the traffic slowdown may be expected from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on February 2 to 3 and February 4 to 5.

This is to give way to the transfer of the TBM from Manila Harbour Center Port to D. Julia Vargas Avenue in Ortigas Center.
“The TBM will be used in the construction of the tunnels that shall connect MMSP’s Ortigas Avenue Station, Shaw Boulevard Station, and Kalayaan Avenue Station,” the agency said in a post on Facebook.
The following roads will be affected during the said dates:
- 5th Avenue (between 11 p.m. to 12 a.m.)
- Araneta Avenue (between 1 a.m. to 2 a.m.)
- Ortigas Avenue – C5 Road (between 2:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m.)
- Doña Julia Vargas Avenue (between 3:30 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.)
The DOTr advised motorists to take alternate routes.
