DSWD distributes P13M worth of aid for victims of floods in Davao Region

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Friday that it has distributed over P13 million of humanitarian aid for the victims of flooding in the Davao Region due to a shear line.

DSWD Davao Regional Director Vanessa Goc-ong said in her report that the DSWD field office has given 21,200 family food packs in Davao Del Norte, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental.

“We will ensure that all requests from all affected LGUs will be fulfilled,” Director Goc-ong assured the DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

According to the DSWD, there are about 3,660 families amounting to 11,800 individuals staying in 60 evacuation centers in the Davao Region.

Goc-ong added that the field office has P69 million in funds for assistance should the need arise.

“The field office also has over Php69 million worth of standby and stockpile funds ready for augmentation to localities if the need arises,” the Davao regional director said.

The DSWD added that 54,880 top-up family food packs from the Visayas Disaster Resource Center will arrive in the Davao Region on Saturday.
