Death toll in Davao de Oro landslide climbs to 10
MANILA, Philippines — The total number of deaths due to a landslide in Davao de Oro’s Monkayo town has climbed to 10 from the previously reported seven, the local government said on Friday.
The Monkayo local government said in a statement that this was the latest data as of 3:00 pm.

One person remains missing after the landslide, while another one was injured.
The incidents of floods and landslides in the Davao Region, which began Tuesday, were caused by the shear line or the convergence of cold winds brought by the northeast monsoon and warm winds from the easterlies.
Article continues after this advertisementIn its Friday situational report, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said a total of 70,862 families or 270,206 individuals were affected by the landslides.
Of these affected people, 4,217 families or 14,921 people are taking shelter in evacuation centers, said the NDRRMC.
