PNP chief orders probe on those behind fake destabilization plot posts
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Benjamin Acorda has ordered the Anti-Cybercrime Group to search for those peddling misinformation online about a plot to destabilize the government.
In the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing, PNP Spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo denied rumors of a destabilization plot, adding that the PNP is monitoring misinformation online.
“Yung ating Chief PNP ay nagbigay na po ng instruction sa ating Anti-Cybercrime Group para imbestigahan po ito at i-identify po ang grupo o tao behind this, and once ma-identify po ito, appropriate charges shall be filed,” said Fajardo.

While Fajardo did not specify the particular post that was making rounds online, she said that posts with the images of Acorda and Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner with certain pleas were monitored.
The spokesperson reiterated that there was no destabilization plot but asked the public to be more critical of the information they see online.
