Fil-Am Julaton outpoints Segura in Mexico
FORMER WBO female superbantamweight champion Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton overpowered Yolanda Segura of Mexico via unanimous decision yesterday at the the Polifuncional de la Colonia Francisco Villa Oriente in Kanasin, Yucatán, Mexico.
It was Julaton’s eleventh career victory against three losses and a draw. She has bounced back from her title loss on points to Yessica Marcos in Argentina.
Segura’s record dropped to 8W-4L, 7 KOs.
There was a bit of controversy during the weigh-in when Segura came in at 130lbs., which was four pounds over the contracted weight. Julaton still wanted the fight to go on and after a lengthy discussion by both camps it was agreed that Segura would be penalized with 25 percent of her earnings and she would be re-weighed the night before the fight to insure that she does not balloon beyond 132 lbs.
Julaton’s Promoter Allan Tremblay has stated in a press release their plan for Julaton to battle WBA Super Bantamweight champion Jackie Nava of Mexico.
The fight result was posted on the GMA network website which also announced that the Julaton vs. Segura fight will air on their station on a later date. /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
