Echo collars title in CEKALCO summer caging
THE Danny Desoyo-led Echo Team swept its best-of-three finals series after crushing Delta squad, 86-76, Friday night to bag the championship of the Center Katipunan A. Lopez Christian Organization (CEKALCO)-2012 summer basketball tournament at sitio A. Lopez open court in barangay Labangon.
Delta led, 21-11 in the opening period and padded this to 15 markers, 44-29, at the half behind Julius Gutierrez, Goky Gacasan and Edwin Lazaga.
However, Echo unloaded a huge, 34-16 bomb in the 3rd canto to erect a three-point cushion, 63-60, going into the final quarter where it increased its advantage to 10 points at the final buzzer.
Richie Villarosa and Nolet Tabasa led Echo with 24 points each while pointguard Julius Gutierrez and Goky Gacasan paced Delta with 28 and 15 points, respectively.
The basketball event was made possible through the efforts of Roland “El Presidente” Sameon, club VP SPO4 Nelson Solana and Commissioner Michael Sameon.
