PNP: 1 dead, 1 hurt due to stray bullets on New Year’s eve
MANILA, Philippines — A person died and another was wounded after being hit by stray bullets during the New Year’s eve celebration, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported on Monday.
According to PNP’s January 1 data, authorities were able to record a total of 810 firecracker or stray bullet-related incidents for both Christmas and New Year festivities.

During these incidents, the PNP recorded 520 injuries and four deaths, including the victims of stray bullets. Moreover, the national police said it had arrested 41 perpetrators and confiscated eight firearms.

Of the arrested, 13 illegally discharged their firearms, 26 sold, used, or kept prohibited firecrackers, and two were arrested for using their guns amid the New Year celebration.
On the other hand, the PNP said they have yet to consolidate the number of confiscated firecrackers.
