LOOK: Over 400,000 travelers seen at NAIA since Sunday; still no long lines

MANILA, Philippines — A total of more than 433,000 passengers were monitored in all Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) terminals from Palm Sunday to Holy Tuesday.
This is the latest data from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).
Last year, the number was lower at over 387,000 during the same period.
Based on a report for the Holy Week this year, airport authorities recorded over 140,000 travelers in the country’s main gateway on Holy Tuesday.
The information was released today (Wednesday).
Of this figure, over 71,000 were domestic passengers, while over 68,000 were foreign travelers.
On the other hand, MIAA logged more than 142,000 passengers on Holy Monday and more than 150,000 on Palm Sunday.
Amid these figures, the lines at travel tax and check-in counters remain short.
Earlier, Immigration Deputy Spokesperson Melvin Mabulac disclosed that 55 officers are manning the counters in all terminals to expedite passengers’ immigration process.
He added that 48 immigration officers are on standby during peak hours — 3:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. – to help accommodate the influx of passengers.
