MANILA, Philippines — DNA samples from the hair strands found in the abandoned car in Batangas City match the DNA samples of the parents of missing beauty queen Catherine Camilon, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced Tuesday.

Authorities previously retrieved hair strands and swabbed blood stains from the Honda CR-V.

The car matched the description of the vehicle provided by two witnesses.

The witnesses had said Camilon’s body was boarded onto the Honda CR-V.

“Kanina po ay nakipagpulong tayo sa representative ng forensic group at meron na pong official result yung DNA examination na kinonduct nila, but I am not at liberty to reveal kung ano po ang laman ng kanilang findings,” Fajardo said in a press briefing in PNP Headquarters in Quezon city.

(Earlier, we met the representatives of the PNP forensic group who stated there is now an official result of the DNA examination they conducted, but I am not at liberty to reveal their findings.)

“But what I can confirm ngayong umaga ay yung hair strands po na na-recover doon sa red CRV ay nag-match po sa DNA profile po ng magulang ng ating missing victim,” she disclosed.

(But I can confirm this morning that the hair strands recovered on the red CR-V match the DNA profile of the victim’s parents.)

Meanwhile, Fajardo said they are still waiting for the identification test results on the blood spatter lifted from the abandoned car.

“As to the blood po, ay hinihintay pa po natin na ma-finalize ‘yung report at nakiusap po ang forensic group na antayin po ang official report po nila,” she said.

(As to the blood, we are still waiting for it to be finalized, and the forensic group requests us to wait for the official report.)

Camilion was reported missing by her mother and sister days after the beauty queen disappeared while traveling from Tuy in Nasugbu to Batangas City on October 12.

She was crowned Miss Batangas and a Miss Grand Philippines 2023 candidate.

A police officer and three others allegedly involved in Camilon’s disappearance were charged with kidnapping and serious illegal detention.

Police Major Allan de Castro, one of the suspects in the disappearance, had admitted to having a relationship with the missing woman.
