MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Monday said it has released an additional P3 billion for the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
AICS aims to help individuals or families who experience an unexpected crisis. The Department of Social Welfare and Development is supervising its implementation.
According to the DBM, the extra funds were released to cover budget deficiencies in the program.
“In adherence with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive, we will continue to strengthen social protection measures for our kababayans, especially the marginalized and vulnerable sectors. Alam at naiintindihan po namin na malaking tulong po ang programang ito sa mga kababayan nating nangangailangan (We understand and appreciate that this program is a great help to our fellow citizens in need),” Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said in a statement.

The DBM said Pangandaman approved the release of the Special Allotment Release Order and the Notice of Cash Allocation on November 16.
“The release of additional funding is anchored on the special provision in the 2023 General Appropriations Act on the use of Unprogrammed Appropriations. The special provision states that a substantial amount shall be used to support infrastructure projects and social programs, including financial assistance to indigent individuals or families,” explained the DBM.
