MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine and US Marines built a jungle obstacle course in Camp Bojeador in Burgos, Ilocos Norte for future bilateral drills.

The groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday was held at the headquarters of the 4th Marine Brigade inside the camp with Armed Forces of the Philippines chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. in attendance.

“It can be used by troops, both from the United States and from the Philippines, in order for us to prepare ourselves physically and make ourselves stronger,” Brawner said.

Brawner also said that the project is a symbol of cooperation and collaboration between both nations.

“But the symbolism of this is that both countries worked together to build something. It could be an obstacle course today; it could be something bigger in the future,” he added.

The project is part of this year’s Kamandag exercises of both countries.

The brief ceremony was concurrent with the live fire exercise of the AFP in the same camp.
