MANILA, Philippines — Authorities arrested three personnel of the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station during an entrapment operation on Wednesday for demanding P100,000 from an individual in exchange for not arresting his live-in partner.

The Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) said the police officers, identified as Senior Master Sergeant Jose Reyes, Staff Sergeants Ramel Delorino, and Glenn Libres, were collared by its operatives along Linco Street, Barangay Rosario, Rodriguez, Rizal, around 8 a.m.

Prior to their arrest, IMEG reported that the suspects went to an unnamed complainant’s residence on Tuesday and allegedly served an arrest warrant against his live-in partner for violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. 22 (Bouncing Check Law) — in the guise of extorting money.

Since his partner was not at home, the police officers forcibly handcuffed the victim instead and boarded him in their service vehicle.

Police said the suspects threatened to charge the victim for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Anti-Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and likewise said that they would arrest his live-in partner unless he gave them P100,000.
