MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon will prevail in Luzon, while Visayas and Mindanao will be affected by localized thunderstorms and the trough of a low pressure area (LPA), the state weather bureau reported on Saturday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the northeast monsoon will affect Luzon, where it will bring cloudy skies with rains in the province of Quezon and the Bicol Region. The rest of the island, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains.

For Visayas and Mindanao, Pagasa said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains will prevail due to localized thunderstorms and the trough of the LPA.

The LPA, according to the weather bureau, was last seen 2,000 kilometers east of Mindanao. It is forecast to enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday.

“Nananatiling maliit ang tiyansa ng nasabing low pressure area na maging isang ganap na bagyo sa mga susunod na araw,” weather specialist Daniel James Villamil reported in their morning weather forecast.

(The chance of the said low pressure area to become a tropical depression in the next few days remains unlikely.)

Pagasa did not raise any gale warning over the country’s seaboards, but it advised sailors to take precautionary measures as offshore thunderstorms may intensify winds and waves.
