MANILA, Philippines — A greater part of the country was forecast to experience overcast skies and isolated rains this Friday due to the northeast monsoon, a trough of low-pressure area (LPA), and localized thunderstorms.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

“’Yun pong low pressure area ay nasa labas pa rin po ng Philippine area of responsibility. Kasalukuyan, mababa ang tyansa [nito] na pumasok sa ating PAR,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio reported during an early morning forecast.

(That low-pressure area is still outside the Philippine area of responsibility. Currently, the chances [of it] to enter our PAR are low.)

Pagasa also said it is not raising any gale warning over the country’s seaboards, but it advised sailors to take precautionary measures as thunderstorms usually occur in the afternoon or evening.
