MANILA, Philippines —  A Belgian fugitive was arrested by Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents in Parañaque City last October 17.

In a statement late Sunday, the BI identified the arrested foreigner as Kristof Debie, 38. He is detained at the BI facility in Bicutan, Taguig City while awaiting deportation.

“BI Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) Chief Rendel Ryan Sy reported that Debie was tagged as an undesirable alien after the agency received information regarding the latter’s criminal activities,” said BI in a statement on Sunday.

Debie was the subject of an Interpol red notice issued last March, requesting countries to locate and arrest him.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by the Court of First Instance of East Flanders, Ghent Section in Belgium, for “multiple grave offenses, including the torture of minors, participation in a criminal organization, and serious drug-related charges, in violation of the Belgian Penal Code.”

One of the purportedly heinous crimes he committed was severing the ear of a 17-year-old boy after losing a stash of cocaine, reports from foreign news outlets said.
