Real Genaro Garcia to fight Bautista’s stable mate in Pinoy Pride XIV

/ 07:42 AM April 30, 2012

THE real Genaro “Poblanito” Garcia of Mexico will not go down in weight to fight IBF International featherweight champion Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista.

Instead, he will battle the latter’s stable mate, Bacolod City’s unbeaten star Genesis “Azukal” Servania in the undercard of Pinoy Pride XIV on June 2 at the Resorts World in Manila.

Servania (17 wins, 5 knockouts) fought and won via unanimous decision against African veteran Nick Otienio last March in Tagbilaran, Bohol in the undercard of Bautista’s bout against the fake Garcia who was sent here by Mexican promoter Hugo Correa.

Correa is now being hunted in Mexico after ALA Promotions lodged a formal complaint against him for the fiasco he created last March.

FEATURED STORIES

“Poblanito” Garcia holds a record of 38 wins, 8 losses and 22 knockouts.

The Servania-Garcia duel is included in ALA Boxing Promotion’s triple-championship Pinoy Pride 14 bannered by two division world champion and current WBO World Light Flyweight king Donnie “Ahas” Nietes who will defend this title for the first time.

Servania, on the other hand, is no stranger to Latino fighters having posted unanimous decision wins against Carlos Cardenas and Gerson Guerrero.

Although pitting Servania against Garcia is a big risk, ALA Promotions is confident that Servania will be victorious. And once that happens, the Bacolod City native can only expect bigger fights to come his way.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
