SANTIAGO CITY — A 5-year-old boy was killed and 10 others were wounded when a bolo-wielding 44-year-old man ran amok on Thursday in Asipulo town, Ifugao province, authorities said.
Captain Francisco Buyuccan, Asipulo police chief, identified the suspect as David Dulnuan Bullong, a former convict residing in Antipolo village in Asipulo.
The fatality was identified as Joe Tagnaon, who suffered hack wounds. The wounded victims were taken to either Panopdopan District Hospital and Region 2 Trauma and Medical Center in Nueva Vizcaya.
Bullong hacked people as he was on his way to the village road and later entered Asipulo Central School where he also attacked children.
Responding police officers shot and killed Bullong.
Buyuccan said Bullong was imprisoned in 2001 and released after 10 years.
In 2013, he was detained for a frustrated murder case.
The suspect allegedly claimed that someone was tailing him, which was apparently a “hallucination,” according to his relatives in a police dialogue. INQ
